Jim began his bowling career in a men's handicap league in 1950 at Bilbow's in downtown St. Paul. (Dad's team for Schuneman's). Since 1950, Jim has been active in many aspects of bowling. He has set pins, bowled, managed bowling centers and is currently the proprietor of Falcon Bowl. Jim started by setting pins at the Park Rec., then became involved in managing: Park Rec. (1955-63), Midway Industrial Bowl (1957-59, Sibley Bowl (1963-66). After retiring from American Can Company, Jim managed St. Bernard's Lanes from 1980-88, Lyn-Del Lanes 1988-91. In the fall of 1991, Jim and his brother acquired Falcon Bowl. From 1957-60 he served on the St. Paul Bowling Association Board of Directors and in 1993 to present on the Minnesota State Bowling Association. He started the KSTP Classic League (1957) which became the Midway Classic League in 1959, at Midway Industrial Bowl. In 1960, he became a certified coach (State of MN) under the guidance of Brunswick rep - Buddy Bomar. He organized and ran the Super Senior CBA Tournament from 1989-91. Jim has bowled in 40 ABC National Tournaments. At the 1968 event he was nicknamed the 'Cincinnati Kid'. In league play, Jim has been a captain of two Classic teams for 42 years. He finished 2nd in the State Doubles with Steve Babcock in 1990 at Southdale Bowl. He won the Singles title of the St. Paul Senior Mixed Tournament in 1995. In 1993, Jim won the Gold Medal in the State Senior Games to qualify as the Minnesota State representative in the National Senior Olympics in Baton Rouge, LA. He repeated this in 1997 at Tuscon, AZ and again in 1999 at Orlando, Florida. He served as the President of the St. Paul 700 Club in 1987-88. His highest average is 203, has many 700 plus series, rolled a 298, a 300 game in 1960 and has a high series of 790.
