Started setting pins in 1918 when he was 14
years old. He started bowling in 1922. Charter member of 700 Club and has had 46 series
over 700, the highest were 793 and 790. High game of 290. Carried the only 200 average in
City league in 1942-43 which was 204. Averaged 206 in 1937 at Harkins. Member of
championship team in City tournament in 1950. In 1937 his team won first place in the
International Arrowhead Bowling Assn. tournament which was held in Duluth with a score of
3029. No other team rolled over 2900. Paired with Jim Mitchell to win doubles title in
same tournament with a score of 1225. Bowled a 894 for four games to win a match from
Billy Sixty, top in St. Cloud Kegler tournament. Has seven titles in the annual 4 Sweepers
held in various cities around the state. In 1942 won the singles and All Events title in
Pipestone. Has many titles and awards. Has three national gold medals in the International
Arrowhead Association tournaments.
