Has been in the bowling business for better
than 35 years, more than any other proprietor currently in the business. Began at Ran-Ham
Lanes in 1953 and moved to present location, Hafner's Bowl on White Bear Avenue in 1956.
Was President of the St. Paul Bowling Proprietors Association. during the mid-50's and was
one the those proprietors instrumental in the first Sponsor-Captain Appreciation Dinner.
The Dinner was later combined with the Men's and Women's Bowling Associations into what is
now known as the Bowlers Recognition Dinner. Was on the Membership and Junior Activities
committees for the Minnesota State BPA for many years and also had one of the larger
Junior programs in the St. Paul area for many years. Has served as President of the Metro
BPA. Was an active bowler for some 25 years and sported a 190 to 195 average for seven to
ten years (mostly in the Hillcrest Classic). Personal bests are a 279 game and a 698
series. Competed in several ABC and Petersen Classic Tournaments. Sponsored men's and
women's teams for nearly thirty years.
