Began his bowling career in the 1940-41
season. Member of the Greater St. Paul Bowling Association board of directors, serving as
president during 1961-62 season, as well as on numerous committees. Was a director on the
Minnesota Men's State Bowling Association board. Wrote a column for the St. Paul Bowling
Magazine in the 1960's; received an honorary membership from the Bowling Writers of
America for comments in his weekly bowling sheet titled Grins and Groans. High single game
was 299, high series was 746, high average was 202. State doubles champion in 1970, paired
with Paul Doherty for a total of 1361. Had high of 895 in the Tribune Classic. Won 3M
Megaphone tourney; 2nd place in Arrowhead tourney in Duluth; beat Leo Rollick (ABC
champion) in exhibition. Served a president or secretary in the following leagues:
Maplewood Masters, Harkins Straightaway, Harkins Classic, St. Paul City league and the
Stahl House Seniors. Pin Boy (Sect/Treas) of the St. Paul 700 Club for 16 years. Served on
committee in promoting two ABC tournaments; supervised eliminations for the All Star
Bowling show on TV.
